Support Programs

Negotiated Education Plans:

The purpose of the Negotiated Education Plan (NEP) is to enable educators, families and learners (when/if appropriate) to jointly develop appropriate curriculum, based on the Australian Curriculum taking into consideration the needs of the learner. The NEP is part of school reporting and recording and should be regularly reviewed by teachers as part of this process.

The NEP is a structured plan to help educators, families and learners at St Jakobi document and remain accountable to set goals and planning for the specific needs of a learner who requires extra support.

St Jakobi identifies students who require a NEP using the Level of Adjustment Provided to the Student document which is provided by the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) for Students with a Disability. Students require a NEP when:

  • If a classroom teacher is providing the student with a Level of Adjustment consistent with Supplementary Adjustment, Substantial Adjustment or Extensive Adjustment, a student should have a NEP to document the level of support they are receiving
  • If a classroom teacher is providing the student with a Level of Adjustment consistent with Support Provided within Quality Differentiated Teaching Practice, this student does not require a NEP at this stage but may in the future.
